And we’re all go!

Please visit http://www.letsbesocial.co.uk/cafe for details of the Solihull Social Media Cafe from now on.

The first event will be on the 12th of November 2009, and I will no longer update this blog as the cafe will become part of Let’s Be Social, concentrating on social media events in and around the Solihull area.

Is it all just talk?

Between the Social Media Surgeries in Birmingham, and for the Solihull Councillors, plus the cafes in Birmingham, my social media time has been pulled here, there, and everywhere.

As this is something we want to do for the Council in Solihull, obviously there are constraints on when I get a chance to get things moving.

I am wondering now if I should simply engage with local people and kick it off, and invite the Council as welcome members of this venture anyway, and just run things as they do in Brum.

To do this, I need sponsorship to pay for the coffee. I already have a venue, and the manager there is happy to do this once a month, so come on people, let me know who to beg to get that £200 a month tab paid for!

The sooner I can get this going, the better it will be for any and all who want to attend a Social Media Cafe in Solihull.

The gears are still turning!

Don’t worry, we’re stil working on this, just several other things going on that seem to be taking up our time. Swine flu seems to be all over the news, and therefore people are worried about it.

In a council, that means s lot more resource dedicated to manning the phones, running the anti viral collecton centres so that people can get their Tamiflu, and things like that.

Hopefully we will be back onto thus soon, so keep watching to see how you can get involved.

Well hello there, how did you find us?

Hopefully it was because you heard that we at Solihull MBC are hoping to get people talking, and having great conversations. Social Media seems to be the current buzz, so let’s start working together and see how this all fits together.

Over the next few weeks we will be posting more information about the “Social Media Cafe”, such as exactly what we’re trying to achieve, and when/where we will meet.

Initially, the council, and it’s partners will be finding out which areas we feel need to engage with the rest of the world more, and see what others are doing, but very soon afterwards, we will open this up to the communities in and around Solihull who have an interest in it.

Keep watching this space!
